Boom Expected in Coming Years for Smartphone Gambling

Online gaming has become a booming worldwide industry. During 2016 an estimated $550 billion was bet online, and according to findings from Juniper Research the market is expected to double by 2021.

The online gambling sites won approximately 10% of all wagers last year. Most of that revenue came from Europe. All across the world about 85 nations chose to legalize internet gambling, said the American Gaming Association.

Predictions from PCMag.com show global smartphone subscriptions are expected to double up to 6.1 billion by the year 2026. According to them approximately 70% of the world will own a smartphone.

It is expected that some of the most explosive growth in the online gaming sector will be from virtual reality play. Just that segment alone is expected to grow by 800% to about $520 million by the year 2021.

Expectations are that mobile is where most of the significant growth will occur. A few years ago, the Guardian reported that almost 5% of all smartphone users had downloaded one or other betting app.

It is estimated that about 70% of worldwide online gambling revenue comes from smartphones.
